Uttar Pradesh: Special Monsoon Session Of Assembly, Council On Sept 22 To Be Dedicated To Women Members, Says Yogi

<p><strong>New Delhi:</strong> Ahead of the commencement of the Monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Monday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday announced that the session on September 22 will be dedicated to women members of the legislative assembly and legislative council.</p> <p>In a first for the state, which is the largest in India in terms of its geographical expanse and sends the highest members to both Houses of the Parliament, the session on September 22 will be attended by 47 women members of the legislative assembly and 6 of the council.</p> <p>Adityanath made the announcement while addressing BJP MLAs and those of its allies on Sunday.</p> <p>Urging the women members of the House to speak on &lsquo;Mission Shakti&rsquo; and other targeted initiatives of his government to ensure the safety, respect and self-reliance of the women during the special session, the CM also requested Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna to nominate a woman member as the presiding officer in both the Houses to make the day special.</p> <p>Asking the ruling party members to ensure discipline and decorum during the special session, the CM said all MLAs should articulate their views freely and substantiate them with facts to raise public awareness.</p> <p>Calling on all members across the aisle to take part in the proceedings with full devotion during the special session, the CM said those unable to attend the session for some reason or the other should inform the whip of their unavailability so that the proceedings could commence on time.</p> <p>Urging the members of the treasury bench to highlight measures undertaken by his government to contain the spread of the lumpy skin disease, which has affected livestock in several states, during the special session, the CM said, &ldquo;The Opposition is at a loss for issues and hence, will try to disturb the proceedings. We must not give the &lsquo;unemployed&rsquo; Opposition issues and should be careful of what we speak.&rdquo;</p>
