Tripura Polls: Yechury Writes To CEC, Claims Amit Shah Had 'Secret Meeting' With Top Election Officials

<p>Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Sitaram Yechury wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on Tuesday, alleging that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is attempting to "influence" the Tripura assembly elections.&nbsp;</p> <p>In a separate letter to the CEC, Yechury reiterated the claims made by Jitendra Choudhury, Secretary of the Tripura State Committee of the CPI(M), regarding Shah's alleged "secret meeting" with the top election and police officials, including the director general of police.</p> <p>As of now, the BJP made no immediate comment.</p> <p>"The conduct of the Union Home Minister in trying to directly influence the results of the Tripura Assembly elections is the issue of this very serious subject," According to Yechury's letter.</p> <p>"You will recall that in our meeting with the full Election Commission last afternoon, we had expressed our apprehensions about such a possibility involving the Union Home Minister.
