Hyderabad: Police Arrest Activist Kashaf Who Raised 'Sar Tan Se Juda' Slogan Against BJP's Raja Singh

<p><strong>New Delhi:</strong> Hyderabad Police on Thursday arrested Syed Abdahu Kashaf, the city-based self-proclaimed social and civil rights activist, for raising the 'sar tan se juda&rsquo; slogan during a protest against suspended BJP MLA Raja Singh over the latter's alleged derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad, news agency IANS reported.</p> <p>According to the report, the cyber-crime also registered a case against Kashaf under Sections 153A, 505 (2) and 504 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).</p> <p>As per Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand, Kashaf was earlier in the day produced before a magistrate with a request to remand him to judicial custody as he may repeat the offence or tamper evidence. However, he was later released on personal bond.</p> <p>The police chief said Kashaf will be charged soon with all efforts to secure conviction.</p> <p>Notably, Kashaf, who calls himself a political strategist and a social and civil rights activist, had called for beheading the BJP MLA for his remarks.</p> <p>During the protests that erupted on Monday night after the MLA posted a video on social media making the objectionable remarks, Kashaf raised the slogan "Gustakh e Rasool ki ek hi saza, sar tan se juda" (Beheading is the only punishment for a person who disrespects the Prophet).</p> <p>Police Commissioner Anand said Kashaf had has made an outrageous and highly objectionable remark which is a direct incitement of violence. It also promotes enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion, he added.</p> <p>Taking suo motu cognisance of the matter, a case was registered against Kashaf and investigation was taken up swiftly.</p> <p>Meanwhile, a case has also been registered against Rashid Khan for making an offensive remark and promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion. Probe is underway and legal action will be taken against him as per the evidence gathered, the police chief further said.</p> <p>Anand warned of stringent action against anyone making offensive statements, spewing venom and spreading hatred, enmity and trying to disrupt peace and tranquility in Hyderabad.</p> <p>"We are identifying others who have posted such inflammatory videos and we will be acting sternly against them as per the law," he said.</p>
